The All-Stars use Shakespeare’s Theatre to inspire, entertain, and educate diverse audiences through live performances  and workshops.   Our professional actors and teaching artists present professional theatrical productions that enliven Shakespeare’s plays for veteran theatre-goers and new audiences alike.  We strive to present Shakespeare in a fresh, accessible way by suiting “the action to the word, the word to the action.”

Artist Residencies & In-Class Workshops

"All the world's a stage . . . "

With our teaching artists, students find clarity in dramatic texts, improve reading and public speaking skills, and connect the classics to the arts and life today as they rehearse and perform the works of Shakespeare.

In addition to fulfilling the Illinois Board of Education Goals for English Language Arts and Fine Arts, the Common Core Standards, and the College Readiness Standards, our programming strives to:

•    Build confidence in reading, public speaking, and self-expression.
•    Encourage cooperation, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and teamwork.
•    Make literature accessible and fun!

We offer a variety of interdisciplinary workshops that connect to English, Literature, History, Speech, and STEM curriculum as well as our Drama workshop, Shakespeare FUNdamentals!

Shakespeare FUNdamentals!  Explore the rhythm, rhyme, and beauty of Shakespeare's language through performance. During this 8-week course, students learn how to make the Bard's famous characters their own, using physical and vocal techniques and clues from Shakespeare's text.  Improve literary and public speaking skills and practice teamwork through ensemble scene work.  Students connect Shakespeare's works to life today as well as other works of art and literature. The program culminates with a showcase performance for friends and family.

After-School Enrichment

If you would like to add a Drama, Improv, Playwriting, or Poetry Club to your after school offerings, one of our experienced Teaching Artists can lead a dynamic educational program that culminates in a showcase of student work.

Shakespeare FUNdamentals! is also available as an after-school enrichment program.
